While it is probably not possible to do without plastics, Aptar believes they should be kept out of the environment. As a member of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s New Plastics Economy Global Commitment, the company actively work on three pillars – recyclability, resin conversion and reusability. Furthermore, Aptar has pledged to complete three key objectives by 2025: achieve 10% recycled content in its dispensing solutions; eliminate problematic resins [1] from all its products; and offer 100% recyclable, reusable or compostable plastic packaging.

When launched in 2021, the INUNE prestige pump collection was designed without polyoxymethylene (POM), a formaldehyde releaser that can be dangerous to the environment. It uses PP instead of POM materials and features a metal-free pathway to safeguard the integrity of the fragrance.

Now available in screw-on, crimp-on or seal-tight versions, the collection offers three different sprays: Classic INUNE for a precise and efficient gentle gesture for everyday use; Precious INUNE, which produces a fine and progressive diffusion that lasts three times longer than a classic spray; and HDS INUNE for a wide-angle spray that offers a light and fine spray.

POM was also removed from a large array of personal care dispensing solutions, including the Future and GSA dispensing pumps, the Tina aerosol and PZ Twist spray pump.

The mono-material Future dispensing pump, which is made fully of polyethylene (PE) and can create a fully recyclable pack when paired with a PE or PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottle, now boasts a tamper-evident system for both the Fenix and Pegaso actuators. Easy to open, the tamper-evident system is not detachable and therefore impossible to lose in the environment. Both actuators feature a lock/unlock system and 360° rotation.

The new Future Tamper-Evident pump also supports ISCC-certified PCR (FDA) resins and bio-resins.

Ventually, Aptar Beauty’s EvoClassic, Satine and Eyes & Lips dispensers are POM-free too, in line with the group’s sustainability commitments. They are designed to meet different requirements, from micro to generous dosage, all with soft and smooth actuation and PCR options.

“As an industry leader, Aptar Beauty is at the forefront of innovation. We tailor solutions to meet our clients’ needs while leading the way in sustainable beauty packaging. In line with our commitments to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, we strive for continuous improvement, enhancing our offerings to be more convenient, efficient, and sustainable,” concluded Marc Prieur, President, Aptar Beauty.
